Abstract

The Child and Adolescent Statute (ECA) guarantees that it is the duty of the family, community, society and public authorities to ensure rights relating to life, health, food, education, sport, leisure, professionalization, culture, dignity, respect, freedom, family and community coexistence. Therefore, the article aimed to promote and prevent children's health based on improving eating and hygiene habits. The study was carried out in a private primary school in the city of Passos (MG) and included the following activities “basic hand hygiene care for disease prevention”, “nutrition education in schools”, “development of educational and of socialization” and “bringing health professionals closer to the school environment”. The meetings took place over a period of eight months, twice a week. The actions were developed with an average of 75 children, aged 3 to 9 years old, through interactive activities, informative materials, posters, balls, singing, group dynamics, lectures, conversation circles, demonstration workshops, exhibition materials for subjects and play circuits, so that interaction between students occurred in a playful way. The students in general were interested and willing to adapt the teachings to reality.
