Abstract

The article presents a project in which second-period Computer Engineering students from the Federal Institute of Southern Minas Gerais developed an educational game inspired by the classic "Snakes and Ladders," integrating mathematical challenges to stimulate reasoning among 7th and 8th grade students in elementary school. The main objective of the game is to promote active and engaged learning through a playful and competitive approach. Methodologically, the game was designed in both physical and digital versions, using cards with challenging questions to reinforce mathematical concepts covered in the classroom. Initial results indicate an increase in motivation and participation among some students, contributing to knowledge building. However, a limitation was observed when the game was used with students outside the target audience, who had difficulty engaging with the proposal. Additionally, the material was not applied directly in the classroom, which limits the assessment of its pedagogical impact. The development of the game also contributed to the developers' training, allowing them to improve their programming skills and learn new languages.
