Abstract

The covid-19 pandemic has expanded anti-vaccine discourses, vaccine hesitation and potentiated communication phenomena such as the infodemic, disinformation, misinformation and fake news. Based on this reality, this study problematizes how denialist discourses about childhood vaccination against covid-19 can contribute to the proliferation of the infodemic. Based on the ‘3Cs’ model (confidence, complacency and convenience) of vaccine hesitancy developed by the World Health Organization, 9 (nine) publications of political figures in three self-styled anti-vaccination Facebook groups were analyzed. It was possible to verify that denialist and anti-vaccination discourses have the potential to increase vaccine hesitancy and that, therefore, educommunicative practices in health need to be (re)thought with a view to reestablishing the successful rates of vaccination coverage in Brazil.
