Abstract

This article presents and discusses how the System of Environmental Economic Energy Accounts (SCEA) in Brazil can be used as an indicator to support the generation of carbon credits in the analysis of energy systems. According to the United Nations (UN), the SCEA establishes relationships between different sectors of economic activities and the use of natural energy resources, in order to estimate the stocks and flow of energy, from its generation to final application. This research also describes the advantages of this application, which results in the production of information that can support public policies aimed at conserving the environment, as well as the assessment of economic activities regarding their impact on energy bills, energy planning for the Brazilian economy, calculation of the Green Domestic Product (PIV) and measurement for the Generation of Carbon Credits.
